World Series Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canada and Japan Regions.

The thrilling 11-inning clash where the Dodgers defeat the Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined 51M viewers in the US, Canadian, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball announced this marks the highest-rated World Series Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic game secured over 27 million audience members on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also is the most-watched World Series matchup after the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a 16% improvement compared to the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, Game 5 was 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th place.

International Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English program in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it drew 12 million. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – drew 13.1 million spectators, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-game World Series recorded 15.71 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Including the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership was 16.1M. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and Fox’s best postseason ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in 16 various languages.
